Mark Iles is the founder of PreNeed Systems. He is also President of Iles Funeral Homes, a second-generation family-owned operator of six funeral home locations serving central Iowa. Mr. Iles formed PreNeed Systems in 1988 and prior to that worked as a career agent for the Principal Financial Group in the Dallas, Texas agency. He was awarded national rookie of the year for his personal sales achievement in 1986, and he finished in the top fifteen for all career agents nationally in 1987. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in finance from Iowa State University.
Mike Iles is a Partner in PreNeed Systems. He is also Chief Financial Officer of Iles Funeral Homes, a second generation family-owned operator of six funeral home locations serving central Iowa. Mr. Iles has worked for PreNeed Systems since 1990. Prior to that he worked for IBM in both the sales and marketing departments. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska and a Master’s Degree from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Vice President Sales
Lori Crabb is the Vice-President of Sales. She joined PreNeed Systems as a Family Service Counselor at the Iles Funeral Homes in 1989, and promoted to her current role in 1993. Lori’s passion for pre-need and helping funeral homes makes her a valuable asset. Lori has expertise in all levels of marketing strategies. She works with funeral homes of all sizes to design a program that will best fit their needs whether that be to simply increase walk-in/call-in business, or use her wealth of knowledge in hiring, training, motivating, and keeping counselors in production for those that desire a more active program. Lori manages over $30 million in annual sales for her customers.
Manager, Contact Management System
Heather Smith is the Admin Database Manager. Her team currently consists of 15 employees that provide contact management services to several hundred funeral homes in support of pre-need sales. The staff helps funeral homes and counselors generate pre-need leads by emailing or mailing letters to extended families and others attending funeral or memorial events. Her staff also helps keep track of daily touchpoints and provides sales management reporting as required. Heather’s expertise with software and technology helps customers keep their contact management system current and user friendly.
Carla Buchanan was the first administrative assistant of PreNeed Systems hired by Mike Iles as a part-time employee in March of 1992. As the company began to grow, the status of her position quickly developed into full-time. In January of 1993 she became a full-time employee and the Administrative Manager of the Southern Region office. She oversees all functions of a general office including the processing of weekly payroll for counselors associated with PreNeed Systems. In addition, Carla and her staff process payroll for numerous Affiliates associated with Homesteaders Life Co.
Jen Fattig is the Executive Assistant for PreNeed Systems. Jen has been in the funeral industry in various capacities since 1990. Her exceptional customer service and organizational skills, along with her attention to detail make her uniquely qualified to centralize many of the functions, projects and programs offered by PreNeed Systems. Jen supports all the programs of PreNeed Systems to find ways to continue to serve our variety of business partners with the highest standard of customer care.
Paul Marshall was hired by PreNeed Systems as a Family Service Counselor. PreNeed Systems quickly realized that Paul’s previous 8 years in the human services field taught him how to adapt to different environments which made him the perfect choice for our Field Trainer. Paul provides training on the benefits of using our contact management system for prospecting and presentations, and maintains regular communication with our counselors to help keep them on track and motivated towards set sales goals.
June came to Preneed Systems in 2003 with over 30 years of payroll and Customer Service Supervisor experience. Her focus has always been giving helpful and friendly service to those that she works with, whether that be while answering questions from the sales staff or doing preliminary underwriting of the contracts. June’s underwriting makes sure that all applications are error free and ready to issue before being submitted to Homesteaders Life Company. Motivating the sales staff is also a very important aspect of the customer service June provides. She loves being able to solve issues for the agents as they arise, and she believes that you should always be smiling over the phone.
